Keila's Early August Pieces: Transitioning from a DAY Date Into a NIGHT Date

Hey guys, it's me again... =]

I hope you enjoyed my picks for beach time in the month of August!

Recently, I had two dates in one day, and I almost ran into a little problem: each date was planned with little time in between to completely revamp myself from head-to-toe. In situations like these, it's important to wear key pieces that can be manipulated from your day look into your night look. Since, we're keeping it within the month of August, I took into consideration the weather and styles for this warm month.

Here is my first key piece: some taupe (great transitional color) buckled peep-toed wedges from ASOS.com Priced at $67.40 (great steal!) And an olive tank top like this one from Forever21.com $11.80, but you can find one even cheaper!

We are going to use these taupe wedges and olive tank top for both our day and night casual date looks.



Here's our DAY date outfit:

Offset the solid colors found on the wedges and tank top with a floral skirt! What makes this floral skirt so great is that it can rollover into the fall season as well, since the material is a jean wash and not a SUMMERY floral type.



Throw on a small shoulder purse, a crochet vest, pretty gem studs (look for colors that compliment the floral skirt), a long necklace (in the gold family), and add whatever else makes the outfit YOU!

Now, let's transform our key pieces for the NIGHT date:



For our NIGHT date, put away your vest, skirt, and accessories (it took me less than 5 minutes to take off these pieces, and replace them) with some mushroom color trousers, studded earrings, gold rust bangles, a beaded, gold rust ring, and switch some of my essentials into my clutch.

And viola! You went from day to night in a matter of minutes! Your night date won't complain about how long it takes you to get ready, and you'll look refreshed at the same time! Everyone wins! haha

Keila's Early August Pieces: For the Beach

I know it's been a while, but I've been on an never ending roller coaster this past year, but I'm BACK and I brought what I like to call, "Keila's Early August Pieces."

Here are a few of my August weather-appropriate selections. Enjoy!

First, let's begin with the swimming attire (of course!). I absolutely LOVE white for this time of the year. It's such a great accessory to a sun-kissed body!

I LOVE ruffles! They are my itty bitty's best friend! Plus, they're fun to wear and can make you look effortlessly sexy!





Or, if you're trying to go for a bit more sexy look, this one-piece will do the job!



*Since both swim pieces are eye-catching above the waist, for boardwalk adventures, add trouser pants to this two-piece like these Split-Side Beach Trousers! They work for both long and short frames!

And for shoes, you can never go wrong with a pair of sand colored wedges (picutred below with trousers).



And to protext your lovely eyes from UV Rays, pair it up with some black over-sized shades!

I love a man who is not worth
my love.
Did this happen to your mother?
Did your grandmother wake up
for no good reason
in the middle of the night?

I thought love could be controlled.
It cannot.
Onl behaviour can be controlled.
By biting your tongue purple
rather than speak.
Mauling your lips.
Obliterating his number
too thoroughly
to be able to phone.

Love has made me sick.

Did your sister throw up a lot?
Did your cousin complain
of a painful knot
in her back?
Did you aunt always
seem to have something else
troubling her mind?

I thought love would adapt itself
to my needs.
But needs grow too fast;
they come up like weeds.
Through cracks in the conversation.
Through silences in the dark.
Through everything you thought was concrete.

Such needful love has to be chopped out
or forced to wilt back,
poisoned by disapproval
from its own soil.

This is bad news, for the conservationist.

My hand shakes before this killing.
My stomach sits jumpy in my chest.My chest is the Grand Canyon
sprawled empty
over the world.

Whoever he is, he is not worth all this.

And I will never
unclench my teeth long enough
to tell him so.

And now, these almond-shaped eyes are no longer blind

NEW YEAR'S 2010

So I kicked off the new year with a BANG!! My girlfriends and I rented out a house at the Poconos...which resulted in MUCHO TROUBLE of course! lol

I'M BIZACKKK!!

Did you miss me?

I hope so!

We're in a whole new decade ya'll!! I'm so happy and grateful to see another year. I love the ideals behind a WHOLE NEW YEAR--new beginnings, new challenges, new opportunities to GET IT RIGHT! I'm not much of a "New Year's Resolution" type of person. I believe, if you want to achieve something...don't wait...DO IT NOW!

One of the things I plan to do is UPDATE THIS BLOG WAYYY MORE FREQUENTLY than I have in the past year...and I'm starting that NOW! =]

I will share with you all--> photos, my writing, advice...anything that comes to mind worth sharing =]

A little update on what's new with me...

I'm still GRINDING (I don't know how NOT to, but ya'll already know that) I'm a fond believer in success being "when hardwork meets opportunity," and that's what I foresee happening in the future....thus, the grind remains constant. I still have the radio show going with my boy DJ Reese, an internship with Live! with Regis and Kelly....small gigs here and there....and much much more!
