Transformation.

All day today I have been listening to basically, every song from Common [Sense] ever released, and man, he came a LONG way. "Can't Borrow a Dollar" is the rookie album, where Common is the FAN and not the artist. In "Resurrection" though, that is when Common starts walking on his own and the ARTIST really comes out. Man oh man, his words, how crazy were his words and the way they were used! "One Day it'll All Make Sense" is, in my opinion, the 'initial experimental' album (every artist usually has at least one), in which he invites several artists to create a new sound and a new feel for his music; very acoustic feel, my favorite sound. Fast forward to "Universal Mind Control," honestly, I'm a HUGE Common [Sense] fan BUT his words are most definitely drowned by the music. Don't get me wrong, the production on the album is on point, BUT I think Common could have had more substance in his lyrics. I still enjoy the album, but not for the same reason as previous albums.

I can't even hate on Common though, bc he is doing great things for him self. He is a good actor, a world wide figure crossing over to mass crowds, and so on. It's just crazy how sometimes it seems as though you have to compromise in order to reach greater success. Well, it's life, I guess.

Post-Script: Cannibus, now you can not tell that his lyrics weren't off the wall! "Making a Name for Ourselves" is a CLASSIC!!! Whoa, Cannibus BROUGHT IT, he was 'bad to the bone marrow'! ---My favorite

And, out of all of his albums, I think my two favorite have to be "Electric Circus" and "Resurrection." Good stuff ;-)
